Introduction

POP SEO ("we," "our," or "us"), a service of Peter Otte Productions, LLC, respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit popseo.com.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Suggestion Box: Your tool idea and, if you choose to give them, your website platform, website address, name, and email address. See The Suggestion Box below.
  • Contact Information: Whatever you include when you call or email us.
  • Tool Information: The domain, URL, or details you type into one of our free tools. See Our Free Tools below for exactly what each one records.
  • Technical Information: Browser type, device information, language, screen width, referring site, and pages visited — collected both by Google Analytics and by our own visitor counter described below.

How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your inquiries and provide requested services
  • To review tool suggestions and, if you leave your email, tell you if we build one
  • To run the free tool you asked for and return your results
  • To improve our website, our tools, and the guide
  • To analyze website traffic and usage patterns

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Our Free Tools and What They Collect

The tools on popseo.com are free and require no account. Because a few of them send what you type to an outside service in order to work, here is exactly what each one does.

Every tool records which tool was run, the domain or URL you entered, the time, and whether the answer came from our cache. That record is kept on our own server.

  • Backlink Checker: the domain you enter is sent to the Semrush API, which supplies the backlink data.
  • SEO URL Checker, Schema Checker, Duplicate URL Checker, Site Structure Analyzer: our server visits the page you name and reads its public HTML, the same as any search engine crawler would. The Schema Checker only links to Google's Rich Results Test; it does not send your URL to Google.
  • Accessibility Checker: our server fetches the page you name, and your own browser renders it in a sandbox so the check can see what scripts add. Nothing from the page is kept beyond the tool record above.
  • Wild Apricot Sitemap Generator: our server reads up to 300 public pages of the site you name to build the sitemap. Members-only pages are skipped, because they require a login.
  • Emailed structure report: if you ask us to email your results, we collect your email address and send you the report. We are also notified that you requested it, and we may follow up about our services. Tell us you would rather not hear from us and we will leave you alone.
  • Attorney Backlink Audit: collects the name, firm, state, and website you enter, then searches public legal directories such as Justia, FindLaw, and Super Lawyers for matching profiles.

The Suggestion Box

Our suggestion box collects your tool idea and, only if you fill them in, your website platform, website address, first name, and email address. We also record the date and time, your agreement to the Suggestion Box Terms below, and a one-way scrambled code made from your IP address, used only to spot abuse; your IP address itself is not stored.

Before a suggestion is accepted, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that it was sent by a person and not a bot. To do that, Cloudflare processes technical signals from your browser under its own Turnstile privacy policy.

Each suggestion is emailed to Peter Otte and saved on our own server. If you leave your email address, we use it only to follow up about your suggestion. We do not add it to a mailing list, and we do not share it.

Suggestion Box Terms

These terms apply to every idea, suggestion, or other material you send through the suggestion box or otherwise send us about new tools (a “Suggestion”). By sending a Suggestion, you agree to the following. If you do not agree, please do not send one.

  1. Voluntary and not confidential. Your Suggestion is given voluntarily and is not confidential. Please do not include anything secret, proprietary, or personal about anyone else.
  2. No obligation. Peter Otte Productions, LLC has no obligation to review, use, build, credit, or respond to any Suggestion. We may already be working on something similar, and receiving your Suggestion does not limit our right to develop it.
  3. Free use. You grant Peter Otte Productions, LLC a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, copy, modify, build upon, publish, and commercialize your Suggestion, in any form, without payment, credit, or further permission.
  4. No compensation; release. You waive any right to compensation, royalties, credit, or other remuneration of any kind, now or in the future, for your Suggestion or for anything we create with it, and you release Peter Otte Productions, LLC and Peter Otte from any claim relating to its use.
  5. Indemnity. You confirm that you have the right to share your Suggestion, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Peter Otte Productions, LLC and Peter Otte from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from your Suggestion or from any claim that it belongs to someone else.

Cookies and Analytics

We set no cookies of our own. The only cookies on this site come from Google Analytics, which we use to understand how often people visit, which pages they read, and where they arrived from.

We also run our own visitor counter, separate from Google. It records the page you viewed, the site you came from, your browser, language, screen width, and a shortened IP address. We remove the last portion of every IP address before it is written down, so a complete one is never stored. This runs on our own server and is not shared with anyone.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Third-Party Services

Our suggestion box is our own form, protected by Cloudflare Turnstile as described above. No outside form service receives what you type into it.

The following services receive information you type into our tools, only in order to produce your result: Semrush (backlink data), Google (Analytics), Cloudflare (Turnstile, on the suggestion box), and the public legal directories named above when you use the attorney audit.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Data Retention

We keep suggestions for as long as they are useful for planning new tools, and emails you send us for as long as needed to respond and maintain business records. Ask us at any time and we will delete your suggestion and the contact details sent with it; the Suggestion Box Terms still apply to any idea we have already used.

Visitor counter and tool records are deleted on a 90-day schedule. On the first of each month we delete the detailed records for every month that ended more than 90 days earlier, so no detailed record is kept longer than about four months. Only anonymous monthly totals remain — counts of visits and tool runs, with nothing that could identify a person or a submitted address.

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' data retention settings.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA.
